BACKGROUND
One of the world’s biggest electronics companies, active in more than 60 businesses, this company is currently the global market leader for lighting, electric shavers and DVD recorders.

CHALLENGE
With decentralized planning systems, it was difficult for the consumer electronics division to attain a global view of its supply chain.  Without that visibility, the company was unable to gauge product overflow correctly and had difficulties in tracking supplier and customer shipments and meeting delivery deadlines. 

SOLUTION
As part of its supply chain transformation, the company chose business intelligence to measure targeted performance improvements.  The company implemented Panorama within the supply chain to facilitate greater visibility into each step of the process and to incorporate a Supply Chain Management KPI Dashboard.  As a result, the company reduced supply chain stock and operating capital significantly and increased customer satisfaction levels. 

RESULTS
Within the consumer electronics division, a global view of their supply chain has resulted in significant financial and performance gains. Stock levels have decreased drastically and the Net Operating Capital has become negative in 2004. These results would not have been possible without a solid and global Supply Chain Management platform.
